Laura Wiley (1965 - 2007)

Laura Wiley, co-founder and co-director of Albany Park Theater Project, died on June 18, 2007. The cause of Laura's death was ovarian cancer, with which she was diagnosed in 2003. Laura was 41 years old.

Laura Wiley We recognize the impossibility of summarizing Laura's contributions to APTP. Laura brought APTP into the world, and for ten years she nurtured the company with an infinite love that made APTP, and all of us at APTP, who we are today.

Laura retains the title of Co-Founder of Albany Park Theater Project, which she shares with her husband, David Feiner. From time to time, we will change Laura's biography here on aptpchicago.org, using words that Laura herself wrote or remembrances of Laura written by APTP artists who worked with her.

The City of Chicago and the Chicago Park District will dedicate The Laura Wiley Theater at Eugene Field Park on January 11, 2008, in honor of Laura Wiley, co-founder and co-director of Albany Park Theater Project. The dedication ceremony will precede that evening's performance of Aqu'i Estoy. For more information, please call 773.866.0875, or email APTP.

In Jewish custom, when someone dies, and when we mention the name of one who has died, we say, "May her memory be for a blessing." May Laura's memory be for a blessing.
